tl;dr (2-3 minutes)
- Go to Mistral AI and sign in
- Check the "I accept the Mistral AI Terms of Service and Privacy Policy" checkbox and then press Create workspace
- Press Set up my plan in the "No API plan active" box
- Press the Experiment for free button in the "Experiment" box and then Accept in the dialog that appears
- Verify your phone number
- Press the Experiment for free button in the "Experiment" box and then Accept in the dialog that appears (again)
- Click API Keys in the "API" section of the left navigation bar
- Press the Create new key button and then Create Key in the dialog that appears
- Press the Copy button to copy your key, then paste it into the Mistral API Key field on the Ask Steve Login page and press Save
- Also save it somewhere else in case you need it again
